Once again, this year, La Genovese win a double award at the International Coffee Tasting 2021, the most important international coffee competition, with the awarding of two Gold Medals for its blends of coffee in beans for the preparation of espresso: Anniversario and Juta.

For Alessandro Borea, CEO of the Ligurian roasting company, «participating in the International Coffee Tasting means getting involved. Working coffee with passion is not enough. Choosing the best blends is not enough. Comparison is important. Checks are just as important.

Also this year we are particularly happy to have received these awards. Anniversario is our top of the range product: a 100% Arabica blend, which obtained an excellent sensory score (90.63 out of 100), the result of skilful roasting and constant control at every stage of production. It is the fifth time that the Iiac awards this coffee, which constantly maintains its quality unchanged. It is a blend much appreciated by baristas, in recent years with Anniversario we have reached several final with at Espresso Italiano Champion.

We are happy to have passed the test for the second time also with Juta, which this year reached the extraordinary score of 91.15 out of 100. This coffee, born in 2018, is composed exclusively by coffee from organic farming and certified by Rainforest Alliance.  It represents our commitment to improve and research excellent products from all points of view: quality, taste, sustainability and technology. We continue to expand the range of sustainable bio products even if for now it represents only 2% of our turnover. We dedicate the Juta Gold Medal 2021 to all the baristas who have chosen it and who share the same vision of the future with us. A sign that offering a sustainable product for the land and workers can be rewarding

The award, organized by the International Institute of Coffee Tasters (Iiac) and Good Senses with the support of Centro Studi Assaggiatori, Iiac Japan, Iiac Korea, Iiac China and the patronage of the International Academy of Sensory Analysis (Iasa), has reached its thirteenth edition. 327 coffees from 10 countries participated in the International Coffee Tasting 2021.
